It's fair to say that my very Midwestern self is not the best authority on NOLA cuisine -- but that's where Chef Ryan Boudreaux comes in. After a long career as a chef in Louisiana, he's got his own cookbook, and I'm inclined to trust his bonafides.

It covers many Cajun and Creole standards, so it's probably best suited for folks like myself who don't have a big Cajun family recipe book somewhere in their kitchen.

I intend on cooking my way through this. So far, I've made the Bread Pudding with Rum Sauce, which was great despite my use of fresh brioche instead of stale French bread. (I was too excited about dessert to sit around waiting on this bread to get hard.) I want to pour the rum sauce on everything.
